Visual Media B.A.
Mission Statement
The Bachelor of Arts in Visual Media equips students for production in four integrated concentrations (Digital Cinema, Animation, 3D Animation, or Photography/Documentary), enables them to analyze and critique media texts, and prepares them for career success in the media arts.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the program, the students will be able to:
- Demonstrate skill and technique in cinematic, animated, photographic, and/or aural media through the effective use of software and/or equipment to produce media or preproduction products.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the science and technology of media creation tools.
- Demonstrate knowledge of historical and/or technological developments contributing to technique, aesthetics, style, distribution, influence, or other relevant aspects of cinematic, animated, photographic, and/or aural media.
- Demonstrate knowledge of theory pertaining to cinematic, animated, photographic, and/or aural media, including the function of formal elements, genre conventions, systems of engagement, elements of artistry, and/or application of critical frames, through analysis of media texts.
- Develop a college and career plan designed to focus learning and production and to support career preparation, and produce a portfolio of quality work in at least one area of specialty.
- Demonstrate knowledge of industry standards, practice, and workflow through contribution to studio-style production and/or development of production materials.
