Mission Statement
The Biology program identifies as its central role to create scientific literacy in addressing biological issues, enhancing opportunities for a diverse student population to enter graduate, professional and entry-level career positions in biology. The Biology program infrastructure provides ongoing support, guidance and encouragement to our students as they strive to meet personal and professional goals.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the program, the students will be able to:
- Identify the question, evidence, and conclusion(s) in a scientific argument.
- Generate and analyze data using appropriate equipment and computational tools required for scientific discovery.
- Articulate the interconnectivity of life by interpreting events across organizational scales.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills for scientific ideas and research using written and verbal forms to present to both scientists and non-scientists.
- Integrate fundamental biological principles with the unifying theory of biological evolution.
