Latin American Heritage and Diaspora Minor

Students will gain a foundational understanding of Spanish colonialism and its legacy, building to a transnational perspective on contemporary Latinx and Latin American communities, migration, and diasporas. Students will gain a strong foundation in the language, culture, and history of Latin American and Latinx communities.

Language Placement Exam: A placement exam is used to advance qualified students to classes appropriate for their language skill level, but does not grant credit for waived classes. Non-native students who have had prior instruction in Spanish may place into higher-level classes, but they will still be accountable for 6 SPAN credits.
