Visual Media B.A. (Graphic Arts and Media Technology Track)
Mission Statement
The Bachelor of Arts in Visual Media (Graphic Arts and Media Technology Track) is a unique program in Nevada, designed to help students engage with and thrive in a culture that is increasingly visual and digital. As video-sharing sites like YouTube have revolutionized the internet, video has become a core communication strategy, allowing viewers to see and experience information dynamically. The Visual Media program equips students to understand and produce these images, giving them powerful communication tools and strategies to thrive in a media-rich culture.
Admissions Requirement
Completion of an AA in Graphic Arts and Media Technology (60 credits) and an Advanced Certificate in Graphic Arts and Media Technology (30 credits) from Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC).
Learning Outcomes
A student who successfully completes the BA in Visual Media (Graphic Arts and Media Technology) can:
1. Apply a knowledge of the historical development of visual media to analyses of cinematic and photographic texts, as well production of historically informed works;
2. Apply critical frames and theoretical models to analyses of cinematic and photographic texts, as well as production of socially conscious and theoretically grounded visual works;
3. Demonstrate skilled use of equipment and technology in the production of cinematic or photographic works;
4 Demonstrate creative development practices resulting in complex, engaging, and innovative works;
5. Apply visual media knowledge and production skills in professional preparation and/or community or industry engagement.

Entrance Requirements
Completion of an Advanced Certificate in Graphic Arts and Media Technology (30 credits) from Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) prior to entering program.
Visual Media Major Courses (24 credits)
Must earn a "C-" or higher to be counted toward a degree requirement. Students must complete 30 upper-division credits in residence at NSC.
