Interpreting Minor
The 24-Credit Minor in Interpreting provides advanced training to prepare students to become professional ASL-English interpreters. This minor is intended for Deaf Studies Majors, who are required to take AM 205 (Introduction to Interpreting) , AM 305 (Intermediate Interpreting), and AM 320 (Professional Ethics in Interpreting) as part of their degree.
Students who complete the 24-credit Minor in Interpreting can:
- interpret from ASL to English and English to ASL at an intermediate to advanced level,
- demonstrate the professional behavior required of an interpreter, and
- use ethical principles to make challenging decisions in an interpreting setting.
