Mathematics with Concentration in Statistics and Applied Mathematics BS

(The Mathematics B.S. with a concentration with Statistics and Applied Math has been placed on hold for the 2024-2025 academic year.)

Description
Students in the statistics and applied math concentration will learn essential skills in sampling, experimental design, data modeling, and computer programming skills for model development and data analysis.

Outcomes
1. Students will demonstrate proficiency at formulating questions and use appropriate mathematical techniques to solve problems, both inside and outside mathematics.
2. Students will recognize the need for mathematical rigor, and competently analyze and produce rigorous mathematical arguments.
3. Students will be able to use appropriate technologies and media to seek out and understand mathematics, and clearly communicate the results and conclusions to both professional and non-professional audiences.
4. Students will be exposed to the major areas of mathematics with an emphasis on making connections between the disciplines.

5. Students will demonstrate proficiency and expertise in sampling, experimental design, and data analysis.
