1. Students will demonstrate proficiency at formulating questions and use appropriate mathematical techniques to solve problems, both inside and outside mathematics.
2. Students will recognize the need for mathematical rigor, and competently analyze and produce rigorous mathematical arguments.
3. Students will seek out, understand, and clearly communicate mathematics with professional and non-professional audiences, using technologies as appropriate.
4. Students will be exposed to the major areas of mathematics with an emphasis on making connections between the disciplines.

Students must take 12 additional units of MATH or STAT courses at the 300 or 400 level. Any combination of the following courses:
- Any 300+MATH or STAT course not counted in the required core or DATA 320 or DATA 330.
- MATH 491 can be repeated for up to 3 units.
- School of Education Dual MATH/MATH Education Majors are required to take EDSC 453, MATH 381 and MATH 455.
- Admission into the School of Education is required for enrollment into EDSC 453.
