Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the program, the Secondary Education Teacher Candidates will be able to:
- Apply in-depth knowledge of subject matter and pedagogy to develop differentiated curriculum and instruction that responds to diverse learners and fosters inquiry, critical thinking, problem-solving, local-global connections, real-world application, and collaboration. (InTASC: 1-10)
- Implement a variety of formative and summative assessment strategies, including performance-based assessment, that align with learner development and learning objectives, provide feedback to support learner growth, and inform instructional decision-making. (InTASC: 1, 2, 6, 7)
- Purposefully examine disciplinary concepts and tools, investigate instructional practices, analyze data, and adapt approaches based on high-quality research. (InTASC: 4, 5, 6, 8, 9)
- Affirm cultural, linguistic, physical, and cognitive diversity in their classrooms by creating inclusive learning environments, valuing each learner’s unique background and needs, and advocating for policies and practices that address disparities in educational opportunities and outcomes and advance justice and equity for all learners. (InTASC: 2, 3, 7, 9, 10)
- Collaborate with stakeholders in the educational process, including learners, families, colleagues, and the broader community, to foster a sense of shared responsibility for student success, and engage in civic activities that promote educational advocacy and community development. (InTASC: 3, 9, 10)
