Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the program, the Early Childhood Candidate will be able to:
- Demonstrate understandings of normative developmental sequences of young children from birth through age 8 across developmental domains, including physical, cognitive, social and emotional, and linguistic. (InTASC 1; NAEYC 1a; CEC EI/ECSE 1.2)
- Apply knowledge of individual differences, strengths, interests, abilities, and families' social, cultural, and linguistic diversity to support each child's development and learning across contexts. (InTASC 2; NAEYC 1b, 1c, 1d; CEC EI/ECSE 1.2, 1.3)
- Create learning environments to support interactions and relationships and to facilitate access, participation, and engagement. (InTASC 3; NAEYC 4a; CEC EI/ECSE 6.3, 6.6)
- Integrate content and pedagogical content knowledge and knowledge of curriculum content resources to ensure equitable access to developmentally appropriate learning experiences in inclusive environments. (InTASC 4, 5; NAEYC 5a, 5b, 5c; CEC EI/ECSE 5.2)
- Demonstrate proficiency in selecting appropriate assessments (informal, formal, formative, and/or summative) to promote positive outcomes in each child, utilizing developmentally, culturally, linguistically, and ability appropriate practices. (InTASC 6; NAEYC 3a, 3b, 3c; CEC EI/ECSE 4.1, 4.2, 4.3)
- Implement a broad repertoire of developmentally appropriate, culturally and linguistically relevant, and evidence-based teaching strategies. (InTASC 7, 8; NAEYC 4b, 4c; CEC EI/ECSE 6.7)
- Promote ethical practice and professional communication skills, while sustaining reflective and intentional advocacy for improved outcomes for young children, families, colleagues, and the profession. (InTASC 9; NAEYC 6a, 6b, 6e; CEC EI/ECSE 7.1-7.4)
- Collaborate with families and other professionals through respectful, reciprocal relationships and engagement to support young child's development and learning and the various transitions that occur throughout the birth through 8 age-span. (InTASC 10; NAEYC 2a-2c; CEC EI/ECSE 2.1-2.3, 3.1-3.3)
