Nursing Admission Requirements

Admission Criteria

  • Students must have earned a Bachelor's degree from an institution recognized by the Department of Education, and a professionally accredited nursing program. (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education [CCNE], Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing [ACEN], National League for Nursing [NLN] Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation [CNEA]) or approved equivalent.)
  • Official transcripts sent directly to the Office of Admissions (conditional admission may occur pending receipt of transcripts).
  • Current, unencumbered RN license in the applicant's state of residence. The license must be maintained and unencumbered throughout the course of the degree pathway.
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Copy of government issued identification.
  • Must have practiced as a Registered Nurse for a minimum of one calendar year prior to beginning MSN-Leadership coursework.

Nevada State is authorized to offer online education to students in Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Vermont through the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA).

Students are required to hold an active, unencumbered license in the state in which they reside and/or in the state where the student's practice experiences will occur. These states must be listed as approved above.

Requirements for Progression in the Program

  • Maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 (B) or above each semester enrolled.
  • Receive a grade of “B” or above in all required nursing courses. If less than a “B” is earned, for example a “B-“or below, the student must repeat the course.
  • Complete a minimum of nine MSN –Leadership program credits each calendar year, or a minimum of three credits each fall, spring, and summer session.
  • Maintain the MSN-Leadership standards of academic and professional integrity.
