Academic Advising

The Academic Advising Center (AAC) permits NSC to provide greater customer service in a more consistent and efficient manner to students concerning the area of academic advising and class scheduling. Students are urged to consult with their advisor prior to course registration to ensure they are registering for appropriate courses. For students who have not yet decided on a major, the academic advising center provides major exploration and guidance.

Academic Advisors are available to assist with:

  • Understanding the college requirements for selected degrees
  • Choosing, changing, adding, and dropping a major
  • Planning course selection and registration
  • Developing an academic plan towards degree completion and graduation
  • Dropping and adding classes
  • Becoming familiar with the college and available resources
  • Keeping track of academic progress
  • Academic Advisors are ready to discuss:
  • Progress towards degree
  • Strategies for academic success and to improve GPA
  • Help with study skills
  • Academic difficulties
  • Preparation for application into professional programs (i.e. Teacher Prep, Speech Pathology, and Nursing).
