EDSP 408 Social and Emotional Learning
This course is designed to equip teacher candidates with the social and emotional learning techniques and developmentally appropriate practices they need to teach in a variety of contexts. These skills will support children birth-age 8 in urban, rural and diverse contexts. Strategies for collaborating with community stakeholders are also explored. Skills needed to provide an environment in which children can begin to learn and practice appropriate and acceptable behaviors as individuals and as a group are addressed. Appropriate guidance including: setting limits, use of logical and natural consequences and helping children learn social problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation are also examined.
