COM 475 Communication and Community Engagement
This is one of the capstone courses for Communication majors. As such, the class provides the experienced student of communication with an opportunity to bridge classroom learning with real world experiences. It will push students to reflect on disciplinary concepts and to examine the influential role communication plays in nurturing democratic practices, recognizing and valuing diversity, and promoting active, responsible citizens. In addition, the course provides an opportunity for students to transform theory into practice by engaging in a semester long civic engagement project (the theme of which will be designated by the professor at the beginning of the semester).
