BIOL 362 Pandemics and Public Health
Examines social, political, cultural, and biological factors that impact the progression of pandemics using interdisciplinary approaches. Case studies may include the Black Death of the fourteenth century, the nineteenth century cholera pandemic, and the twentieth century AIDS and Covid-19 outbreaks. Topics include the biology of viral and bacterial diseases, S.I.R. differential equation model of infectious diseases, random walk simulations, and public health policy and interventions. Pre-requisite(s): MATH 120 or higher. Crosslisted with DATA 362.
