Standards of Conduct for the Use of Computers in NSU-Related Activities
It is the policy of Nevada State University that improper conduct regarding computers as set forth in this section is incompatible with the goals of honesty and academic freedom and is strictly prohibited. Improper conduct regarding computer use at the university falls into three categories: (1) academic dishonesty; (2) disruption and destruction of computer facilities; and (3) violation of licenses and copyright agreements, university policy, and state or federal laws.

Honorlock Exam Proctoring and Bowser Lockdown
Bowser Lockdown
In-person computerized exams in some courses will include Honorlock's browser lockdown BrowserGuard. Students do not need to create an account or schedule an appointment in advance. The computer must have Google Chrome and the Honorlock Chrome Extension downloaded. Students must install the Chrome Extension on each unique campus computer they use for an exam with BrowserGuard.
When a student is ready to take an in-person exam that requires browser lockdown, they will log into Canvas, go to their course, and click on the exam. Honorlock will direct students to download the Chrome Extension. Honorlock's integrity algorithm BrowswerGuard can detect search-engine use, even on another device. Honorlock is not compatible with iPads or with phones.

Exam Proctoring
Honorlock, an online proctoring service, will be used for exams in some courses, particularly online courses. Students do not need to create an account or schedule an appointment in advance. Honorlock is available 24/7, and all that is required is a computer, a working webcam/microphone, your NSHE ID, and a stable internet connection.
Students will need Google Chrome and will need to download the Honorlock Chrome Extenstion. When students are ready to take their online exam, they will log into Canvas, go to their course, and click on the exam. Click "Launch Proctoring" to begin the authentication process, where students will take a picture of themselves and show their ID. Honorlock will record the exam session through the student's webcam and microphone and will record their screen. Honorlock's BowserGuard can detect search-engine use, even on another device.
Honorlock is not compatible with iPads or with phones. If students need to use a computer to take an exam, students may use one in the library or an open computer lab on campus.
