CHEM 474 Biochemistry I
Fundamentals of biochemistry with emphasis of the molecular/chemical composition and the structure-function relationships of three biological materials involved in living cells: nucleic acids, proteins, and lipids. Important concepts include nucleic acid processes, hemoglobin, bioenergetics, enzyme kinetics, catalysis and regulation, membrane channels and signal transduction pathways. Pre-requisite(s): CHEM 241 (with a C- or better) or CHEM 242.
