BIOL 462 Microbial Ecology

Addresses the impact of physiological, phylogenetic and genomic diversity of microorganisms in ecosystems.  Focuses on microbial interactions within the environment, including their contribution to rates of  decomposition, soil development, and nutrient cycling.  Intimate associations with plants and animals will be covered. Surveys current methods for studying microbial ecology and diversity in the environment. Pre-requisite(s): BIOL 196, BIOL 197, BIOL 220, BIOL 351, CHEM 121, MATH 126
